This past year has been transformative for Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie LLP, particularly since we welcomed Irwin Mitchell Scotland into our offices following our successful combination earlier this year.

Thirteen Irwin Mitchell team members have joined us in Glasgow, marking a significant expansion of our integrated service offerings in Scotland.

Meanwhile in September, our private client team was honoured to receive the team of the year award at the Scottish Legal Awards, an accolade that reflects a dedication to providing empathetic and comprehensive estate, tax, and succession planning services.

The launch of our first ever Inverness and Cromarty Firth green freeport event alongside Irwin Mitchell last month was also a highlight, attracting more than 100 experts to discuss the economic potential of the Highlands through freeports.

Our dedication to fostering talent has been another key focus’

This landmark event allowed participants to gain insight into opportunities for investment and job creation in renewable energy and infrastructure, with speakers covering developments in offshore wind, trade, and community engagement.

Our dedication to fostering talent has been another key focus, with a wave of new trainees, recently qualified solicitors, and key internal promotions being announced, including promoting two colleagues to partner. I look forward to seeing the fresh perspectives they will bring to the practice.

Meanwhile, in the renewables sector, we held our 10th annual renewables seminar, a major event in the Scottish renewables calendar. This year’s theme, Achieving Alignment: The Realities of Delivering Net Zero delved into key topics such as biodiversity, grid integration and insights into the UK’s energy landscape.

The event has become a vital forum for Scotland’s transition to a green economy, and we’re honoured to lead discussions that drive forward this essential work.

With our evolving collaboration with Irwin Mitchell, the growth of our teams, and a focus on emerging sectors like renewables and freeports, we are poised for a promising future. WJM is excited to build on this momentum and continue delivering solutions for our clients.
